Grain Storage Facilities

AgroCentre offers Russian farmers state-of-the-art products in the area of crop management equipment and technology.

AgroCentre builds turn-key Twister storage facilities (manufacturer - Canada) providing an optimum and cost-effective solution for agricultural enterprises engaged in various grain-processing operations. As a rule, grain storage systems are assembled on a separate site or next to existing processing facilities, in close proximity to rail lines and highways. The company erects grain handling and storage systems in the shortest possible time to suit the customer’s requirements, desires and capabilities.

Twister elevatorsperform the following operations:

The package of equipment, its power and capacity are determined immediately upon determining the needs and desires of the customer. The quality of the operations performed at the elevator depends directly on the level of equipment available and the operating rate of the system on the whole.

The bins are available in capacities from 45 to 5,700 tonnes. They are positioned on concrete foundations (timbering) in rows or otherwise, depending on their quantity and processing flow chart. The concrete foundations, in their turn, rest on a pile foundation or a gravel pad. For aeration of the product, special channels are provided in the concrete foundations of flat bottom bins, while hopper bottom bins feature a specially designed belt of active ventilation.

The Twister bins are structurally combined with oversilo and undersilo galleries. Oversilo galleries are steel structures which rest upon reinforced studs and bin roofs and bear loading equipment (conveyors, gates, etc.). The bins can also be filled/discharged by portable conveyors.

The flat bottom bins comply with the following requirements:

  • Complete insulation of the stored product from ground water and precipitation, from damp and warm air;
  • Low heat conductivity of walls and floors (protection of product against daily air temperature fluctuations);
  • High water absorption of the grain storages’ inner surfaces (protection of product against moisture condensation on interior walls under dramatic temperature drops);
  • Insulation, feasibility of product decontamination work;
  • Fully mechanised loading/unloading;
  • Meets the requirements of labour protection, fire and explosion safety;
  • Structural reliability and strength (withstands the pressure of grain mass onto walls and floor, resists wind force);
  • Equipment with remote temperature control systems;
  • Active ventilation system.

Temperature control is implemented via a thermometry system with output of information onto the operator’s panel. The system of layer-by-layer temperature control helps to detect hotspots and monitor insect activity. The adjustment of temperature and moisture is provided by means of an active aeration system: the air charged into grain mass takes out heat until equity of the temperatures is achieved.

Use of active aeration makes it possible to:

  • Prevent and exclude spontaneous grain heating;
  • Cool grain to the temperature optimum for its long-term quantity-quality preservation;
  • Create negative conditions for insect and microorganism activity;
  • Eliminate foreign smells in the grain mass;
  • Every bin is equipped with a conveyor (sweep auger) moving around the floor and intended for complete emptying.
