The genuine choice!

While preparing machinery for the farming season, producers run into the question which oils and lubricants to use: is it worth to stick to a genuine consumables manufacturer or opt for less expensive, non-genuine equivalent products. The latter are, as a rule, cheaper consumables of general application. Searching for a good compromise between price and quality, AgroCentre recommends paying attention to a few decisive factors.

According to statistics, in most cases, premature repairs of engines, transmissions and assembly blocks of farming machinery are rather caused by use of oils and lubricants unapproved by the manufacturer than by their natural wear or design defects. Genuine oils perform a number of critical functions: quality greasing, dirt removal, protection against corrosion, neutralisation of oxides, sealing gaps between the parts and cooling, all of which are aimed at protection against tough conditions and adverse effects, considerably enhancing its service life and efficiency.

‘The genuine oils and lubricants have been designed with the use of state-of-the-art technologies to fit individual machinery parameters perfectly well and meet the requirements of engineers and manufacturers of the machinery and equipment’, says Sergey Tikhomirov, Head of Spare Part Department of AgroCentre-Holding. ‘It is the formulation that ensures the maximum performance of the key units and unleashes full potential of the machinery.’

All the genuine oils and lubricants are formulated with special, narrow-purposed additive packages to ensure the operation of the unit it has been designed for. Taking into account specifications and complexity of the farming machinery, it should be noted that the manufacturers’ requirement to use genuine materials exclusively is entirely reasonable.

As Sergey Tikhomirov comments, the oil and lubricant costs usually account for less than 5% of the total machinery maintenance costs. An attempt to cut down on these costs by using non-genuine equivalent products may lead to serious implications: increased engine oil consumption and unit wear reducing the service life of machines. Using genuine materials is not only a way to optimise servicing but also a way to reduce costs.

AgroCentre offers farmers operating Challenger, Fendt, Massey Ferguson and Valtra machines to use genuine AGCO lubricants. The AGCO lubricant lineup includes engine, transmission and hydraulic oils and universal hydraulic and transmission fluid. The oils are designed by AGCO-RM specialists to meet the specific operation environment in Russia: maximum loads, sudden weather changes, inconsistent fuel quality. The lubricants have been rigorously tested in work conditions of Russian agricultural enterprises, the results of which demonstrate that AGCO products comply with all standards of quality and specific requirements of the local market.
